Faith - What is It?

I have been curious the few days, well maybe a little longer than that about faith. What is it? I know Hebrews 11:1 says "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen". The dictionary gives the definition of- firm belief in something for which there is no proof.

My thoughts have been is it something we have and exercise,or is it something that God gives us. How can we have faith unless God gives it to us in and through Jesus. I am reading a book by Sheila Walsh "Extraordinary Faith". So far so good.

The first chapter of the book has a portion of a hymn by Eliza Hewitt "My Faith Has Found a Resting Place" I don't know the song but the words are so good I wanted to share them with you. The old hymns of days gone by are worth learning and knowing the are so full of the bible truths.

My faith has found a resting place,
Not in device or creed;
I trust the ever living One,
His wounds for me shall plead.

I need no other argument,
I need no other plea,
It is enough that Jesus died,
And that He died for me.

So today for me faith is just trusting God to do what is right for me in every situation and not how much I believe God can do or not do something. God is more than able to do whatever He chooses.

It's All About HIM

Faith, such a deep and yet easy subject all at the same time.
